2013 CSA week 16 dang it!September 18, 2013
A quick note to apologize for the lack of box note yesterday. Tuesday and yesterday were the truest illustrations to date of what happens when things that can’t go wrong go wrong. On Tuesday our ever reliable 20′ box delivery truck broke down on its way to Portland for the restaurant delivery route. Heavily loaded for the upcoming Feast Portland events, we were able to limp the truck back to the farm and transfer the contents to a neighbors equally reliable box truck. This time our driver got about an hour up the road when the second vehicle broke down and had to be towed back to the farm, produce and all. At this point, knowing we had the CSA route on Wednesday I was ready to curl up in the fetal position and cry for my mommy. Instead bolstered by the unwavering dedication of my crew we rallied. So yesterday we rented a U Haul put two guys in the cab and I followed it with my beat up old pick up and headed to Portland. While the two guys raced around from CSA drop site to restaurant, I ran satelite missions with the pick up loading up with whatever would fit, hitting as many stops as possible, then returning to the truck for another load. Somehow we managed to get two delivery routes done in one day with only a few mistakes and tardy drops. If you were somehow inconvenienced by the chaos I apologize. If you for some reason were unable to get your box at all please drop me an email and we’ll figure a way to make it up to you.
Next week can only be easier.
