May 23, 2012
With the rain putting a halt to much of the major field work we’re finding the time to catch up on the farm a little and take a few moments to reflect on the season so far. I’m often amazed at how much our small crew can accomplish in the fits and bursts of frenzied activity that the weather breaks allow. Multiple tractors and a crew armed with hand tools allowing me to cross things off of my never ending lists of things to do in rapid succesion. The tomatoes in the high tunnels….pruned and trellised. Field for winter squash….composted and tilled. Parsnips, salsify, carrots, beets, salad mix, radishes…seeded. Thousands of plants in cell trays…transplanted into the fields. Feels Good!
